School of Fashion and Textiles

The School of Fashion & Textiles offers a progressive four-year undergraduate programme in Fashion Design aligned with the National Education Policy (NEP), along with a B.Sc. (Hons.) in Textile & Fashion Studies. The multidisciplinary and industry-oriented curriculum integrates creative exploration with technical mastery in pattern making, draping, garment construction, textile studies, and collection development. Students gain advanced proficiency in CAD, CLO 3D, Arahne, AI-supported design tools, digital portfolio development, textile surface techniques, and emerging fashion technologies, preparing them for both physical and digital fashion ecosystems. The programme also emphasizes Fashion Communication, Styling, Sustainable Fashion, Retail Technology, Fashion Management, branding, visual merchandising, digital marketing, entrepreneurship, and responsible design practices rooted in craft and heritage. The School also offers career-focused certifications, specialization pathways, and a range of minor options that allow students to tailor their academic journey according to evolving industry demands and individual career aspirations.

 

Supported by state-of-the-art studios, CAD labs, garment construction and draping laboratories, textile and surface design facilities, and resource centre for Indian crafts, the School provides an immersive industry-like learning environment. Experiential learning is strengthened through internships, live projects, field visits, educational tours, craft documentation, workshops, special lectures, guest lectures by industry experts, participation in fashion shows and exhibitions, and collaborations with leading industry partners. A landmark highlight of the School is Kaleidoscope - the graduating fashion show that showcases students’ creative excellence and innovation. MSc. in Textile & Fashion Studies
The programme is designed to strengthen and enhance a student’s understanding and knowledge on diverse subjects. It shall be conducted via a blended learning approach that will include classical classroom teaching, self study, experiential learning, seminars, presentations, field visits etc. As part of their training, every student will have to work on a research project in the second year and submit a dissertation. It is compulsory for the students to complete two months internship to complement the programme that will allow them to make more informed choices when planning a career.

The program includes


  • The course covers subjects on speciality fibres & technical textile;, fabric design & technical fabrics; textile chemical processing; CAD; draping; pattern making & garment construction and entrepreneurship development.
  • Student will be evaluated on each subject / paper (theory/practical) under both:
    1. a) Continuous Internal Evaluation (CIE): 40% weightage CIE includes written class tests, assignments, seminars, tutorials and/or laboratory assignments.
    2. b) End-semester Examination (ESE): 60% weightage Four ESE will be held, one at the end of each semester.

Course Duration:

15-17 weeks per semester with 20-26 classes of 1 hr duration per week.

Course Timings:

9:30 am to 4:00 pm, six days a week (1st and 3rd Saturdays are off days).
